A public awareness meeting was held on the introduction of gender policy.

In addition to the leadership of the National Institute of Higher Education, lecturers and students participated in this meeting. In his address to the participants, Dr. Sadaqat Yaqoobi, Director General of the National Institute of Higher Education, spoke about the importance of the topic and gave a brief speech on this important discussion that has emerged from human origin. He said: Gender equality is a basic need of human society today and a phenomenon that cannot be ignored. We are committed to employing men and women in our work and educational environments, considering their roles, so that no one’s rights are violated. Then, Sheila Qayumi, Program Manager of the Equality Foundation for Peace and Democracy (EPD), spoke about the consequences of violence caused by the lack of gender equality in institutions, adding that the more the role of men or women is ignored, the more society is heading towards misery. Parisa Zamani, head of the Gender Committee of the National Institute of Higher Education, spoke about the formation and working process of the committee and asked students and staff to continue to cooperate with them. Then, Professor Javed Sadat of Kabul University gave his presentation on the topic, in which, in addition to the definition of gender, the historical background, the reasons for the emergence of this phenomenon in the East and West, and other important aspects were discussed.
